Double-Edge – Double-Edge Returns

Double-Edge’s new album is Double-Edge Returns, releasing soon on Club Copy.

On Double-Edge Returns, Double-Edge soundtracks late runs through the Pacific Northwest, documents the pressure of a room that won’t empty out, and rebuilds jungle from the ground up — sharp breaks, heavy air, and the kind of low-end that feels like weather. As Double-Edge makes the record and tries to understand the lane, they see themselves both observing the dancefloor and participating in it.

Digital is available for pre-order today. Once the album lands, files ship straight to your inbox — no waiting on the mail, no scarce stock games. Just the music.

We’ll let Double-Edge tell it:

“What is this album about? Can you describe it in one or two sentences? What’s the inspiration? And so on and so on.

No one will accept ‘Aye man just press play’. So for those unwilling to just listen to the music without a setup, premise, or explanation, I say to y’all, it’s the return as the subject. Imagine a producer working a break and then saying, ‘Yo what if I sample myself sampling this break’? Then they step back and listen to that loop. Then they decide to cut themselves listening to the loop of them cutting the break they were cutting.

I know. It’s some Russian doll inception type shit. But see, once I say that now you have some preconceived idea of what you think this album is gonna be. Yes, most my records have a concept baked in there somewhere, whether covert or overt, but it would be more interesting for me if you press play blindly and then you tell me what you got from it.

I would have questions for the listeners. What time did you listen to it? Was that an uninterrupted experience? Was it on a drive? Or at the crib? Was it alone or with people? Did somebody play the album and you did not know who Double-Edge was, or are you already up on the catalog? How many times did you hear the album? Did you tell anyone about it? Did you listen digital? Stream? Did you skim through or let it ride?

I could go on.

There is so much new music coming out constantly while old jungle is still being discovered. As much as people complain about the state of electronic music, I find there is a lotta fly shit out there. An unlimited supply of it. So why should you stop and listen to Double-Edge Returns?

Besides the music being dope and the breaks being unique. Besides the creativity and dedication to quality. Besides the people being ready for a new type of pressure to cut through the noise and get some light on the surface. Besides the fact that I have carved out a lane on a freeway in bumper-to-bumper traffic with raw authenticity.

Shit, besides all that, I don’t know. If you do know why you should press play on my new album Double-Edge Returns, then go in your phone and add the release date to your Google Calendar cuz that’s when it’s available to listen to in its entirety.”
